The Haven 12.5 is a modified version of the Herreshoff 12 1/2 which remains an active class today and is one of the most admired and well-loved boats ever designed. Joel White designed the Haven 12.5 to have the benefit of easy trailering with the addition of a centerboard. He was also careful to retain the fine elegant lines and he painstakingly made adjustments like a slight widening of the beam to make sure that sailing characteristics and performance were not affected by the shallower draft.
